MODERN HOME IN PINECREST
This beautiful and Modern Home in Pinecrest is a renovation of an existing ranch house in Pinecrest, Florida. The existing home is 3 bedrooms, 3 bath and 3,957 square feet. To accommodate a multi-generational and growing family, this addition designed by WHAA totals 7,356 square feet, creating a total of five (5) bedrooms, seven (7) baths, upstairs study and game rooom.
The circular driveway for this Modern Home in Pinecrest invites you into the site where the house sits amongst Poinciana, live oaks and palm trees. A long overhang over the entrance distorts the scale of the front facade, and creates a sense of grand entry and canopy.
As you arrive enter the new Pinecrest home, both front and back doors lead you to a double-height ‘light box’ space, therefore creating a two-level center point of the Modern Home. the ‘light box’ space filters the east and west light through a set of opposing louvers. louvers. The light-filtering effects of these modern louvers is a motif that continues throughout the house, including in the car port, upstairs, pool and 2nd-level terrace. This Modern space also allows a direct connection from the entrance to the pool in the backyard.
OPEN MODERN DESIGN
The open-plan living spaces flow from one to the other, creating sweeping interiors. These spaces divide the children’s wing from the rest of the new Pinecrest Addition.
Upstairs, the second floor is completely devoted to an expansive modern master suite for the parents.
Extensive overhangs and outdoor living areas, including large balconies and terraces, promote an indoor-outdoor lifestyle and help to sustainably cool the house. Three zones were designated for cooling, in one of numerous efforts made to reduce cooling requirements for this Pinecrest Home.
The promotion of outdoor living, an important concept of the home insists of one covered terrace just off the master suite, nearly 1,000 square feet in size! On the east side, a 2nd outdoor terrace, uncovered. Downstairs, another 3rd uncovered terrace at the pool.
Visible from all sides of the home, the pool area is a mixing space for this Pinecrest Home.
